Developments at the Ground
2004 has seen some really big changes and improvements at Buckhorn Weston
CC's ground at Hope Cross. We have been able to make the changes thanks to a
generous lease arrangement with the new landowner, which has put us in a
position to qualify for grants.
We are grateful to Awards For All, Battens Charitable Trust, Dorset
County Council, The Lords Taverners, the MCC Foundation and North Dorset
District Council - all of whom have given us financial support and /or
playing equipment. We are also indebted to Sports Relief for helping to fund
the two new nets and other items of playing equipment. With everyone's help, we have been able to construct a
completely new entrance to the ground, we have installed an ECB approved
artificial pitch, mobile nets, a slip catching cradle and we have put
stock-proof fencing around the playing area.
The funding bodies have been particularly impressed with our commitment
to youth cricket with our under 13's, under 11's and under 9's competing
regularly. Many visiting teams, who knew
what the ground was like previously, have commented admiringly on the
improvements.
We have a temporary pavilion too - and our next project, when we can
afford it and when we have the necessary permission, will be to turn it into
something more permanent and more substantial. Watch this space for more
news. LATEST NEWS 04/05/07 We
have been given a substantial grant from North Dorset District Council for
ground maintenance equipment which we will put to good use by replacing our
clapped-out wicket mower. With the high number of games at BW a decent mower
to prepare the strip is essential.

Arts of £20,000 towards the pavilion fund. We have had a congratulatory
